Sketching at The Bentway Dominoes event

 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2024

The Bentway is a growing public space under Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway that deserves to be celebrated by artists and urbanites. On September 22, in a creative and joyful act of community building, the Bentway is host to Dominoes: “a larger-than-life, moving sculpture that stretches across multiple downtown neighbourhoods and, over the course of a day-long epic event, unites neighbours in a common cause of setting up and setting off over 2.5 km of giant dominoes.” For more details on the Dominoes, visit www.thebentway.ca

We will be participating in this excitement, documenting the event with our urban sketches: the people, the dominoes, the Bentway structures, the jubilation of a community. Join us!

Address: The Bentway Staging Grounds at north east corner of Dan Leckie Way and Lakeshore Blvd West.

When: Sunday, September 22, 2024 3:00-5:30pm

Hosts: Natalie (@natalie.dauntless), Vivian (@vfsoetikno

3:00pm:

  • Optionally come and say hi before dispersing to sketch individually or in small groups depending on personal preference.
  • The Staging Grounds is a great space showcasing the Bentway. The dominoes will run through here, but also
  • The Canoe Landing Park (fourth photo), particularly the Red Canoe at approximately 4:45pm.
  • You are also welcome to check out other points of the dominoes route (see below for map).

5:30pm:

We will meet at the Canoe Landing Park close by the Red Canoe sculpture for a throwdown and group photo. In case of rain, throwdown/photo will be at the Staging Grounds. Be sure to tag the Bentway when posting your sketches on social media. @thebentway
