FAQs

 Frequently Asked Questions

Please note these FAQs apply to the Urban Sketchers Toronto (USkTO) chapter only. Each USk chapter may operate differently.

1. Is there a schedule? How often do the meet-ups happen?

Please sign up for our email list to get notifications about the next meetup(s). Check your junk mail as sometimes these emails end up in the junk folder!

Confirmed meetups are also listed on Instagram, our Facebook group, and our website blog with a new calendar view on the right sidebar as well to see at a glance.

We don't have a regular schedule. Meetup turnouts usually average between 20-40 people and require coordination and scheduling. We always have a running list of locations that we are researching.
We aim to give advance notice, however sometimes it may be a more last minute gathering. It all depends on when logistics get confirmed.

2. How do I participate in the meetups? Do I need to register?

Most of our meetups are free and open to all. Just show up with your favourite sketching materials! Sketching materials are not provided by the organizers.

Some meetups may have limited capacity due to venue requirements. Those meetups will require ticketed registration and ticket numbers are capped. The ticket will be checked on arrival.

3. What skill level do I have to be at to join?

   Any styles and skill levels are welcome!

4. How does a meetup work?

  1. The meetup begins with an optional orientation where the host will offer suggestions regarding sketch locations and answer questions;
  2. Following the orientation, members are free to find a location that best suits them to sketch (not impeding stairwells or traffic);
  3. The group will meet at a set time for a non-compulsory sketch “throwdown”. We place sketches on a table or the ground so the group can share their work. Members look at each others’ work and chat amongst themselves. We will also take a group photo with our sketches at the end.
*Note that USkTO and the host(s) will be taking photos to share online. Please see our disclaimer for more info.

5. I have an idea for a meet-up! Who do I tell?

Please reach out to the admin team via email if you have an idea for a meet-up. Include any contact info for that venue, if available, and we can add it to the list of potential locations.

You must be a host or admin to post a USkTO event/meet-up on Facebook.

6. Can I host a meet-up?

Please reach out to the admin team via email if you would like to apply to be a host.

You must be a host or admin to post a USkTO event/meet-up on Facebook.
